David is a mainly arable farmer in Aberdeenshire with some of the buildings let out to neighbours for cattle finishing and potato storage. David is also keen on improving the biodiversity of the land. The latest improvements include recent planting of 24 hectares of native woodland and building a 0.6 hectare pond.
David joined Turriff and District Rotary Club in 1995 and held various posts culminating in Club President in 2004/2005. He joined District in 2007/2008 as Youth Exchange Officer then took on the role of Comm/Voc Chair for 2008/2009.
Comm/Voc and Youth Committees work very closely together as a lot of their projects are interlinked. David sees both these committees as being very important to the future of Rotary as the projects they undertake are dealing directly with the local communities. To most people, we are the "public face" of Rotary. It is therefore important that we undertake a range of projects that are relevant to each community that we live in. |
